Privacy Policy
Last updated 31 August 2026
1. Who we are
Markit is operated by Student Systems. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
2. What we collect
- Account details — name, email address, hashed password, and optional academic profile (school, year level).
- Your work — task sheets, marking guides and drafts you upload, plus the feedback generated from them.
- Usage data — assessments created, AI runs, credit balances and message counts.
- Security data — sign-in events, active session and device information, and IP address, used to protect your account.
- Payment data — handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
3. How we use it
To provide and improve the service: generating marks and feedback, tracking your plan and credits, keeping your account secure, responding to support requests, and sending essential emails such as verification and password resets. We do not sell your personal information and do not send marketing emails without your consent.
4. AI processing
To generate feedback, the text of your uploaded documents is sent to our AI providers — OpenAI and Anthropic — under agreements that prohibit using your content to train their models. Only the text needed for the request is sent, and results are stored in your account.
5. Storage and security
Data is stored in encrypted, access-controlled databases and private file storage, with row-level security so only you can access your records. We support optional two-factor authentication, session management, and rate limiting on sensitive actions. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
6. Sharing
We share information only with service providers who help run Markit — hosting and database infrastructure, Stripe for payments, our email delivery provider, and the AI providers above — or where required by law.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete individual assessments and uploads at any time. When you delete your account, your personal data and uploaded documents are removed, except records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons.
8. Your rights
You can access, correct or export your information, withdraw consent, or ask us to delete your account by emailing support@eanddcollective.com. If you are unhappy with how we handled your information you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
9. Children
Markit is intended for secondary and tertiary students. If you are under the age at which you can consent in your country, a parent or guardian must agree on your behalf.
10. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will be notified by email or in the app.
