Terms of Service
Last updated 31 August 2026
1. About these terms
Markit is an AI assessment coach operated by Student Systems. By creating an account or using Markit you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Your account
You must provide accurate details, keep your password secure, and are responsible for activity under your account. Accounts are for a single person — do not share logins. You must be old enough to consent to these terms in your country, or have a parent or guardian agree on your behalf.
3. Academic integrity
Markit is a study and feedback tool. It is designed to help you understand task sheets and marking guides, plan your work, and improve your own drafts. You must not submit Markit-generated text as your own work where your school, university or examining body prohibits it. You are solely responsible for complying with your institution's academic integrity policy.
4. AI output
Marks, feedback and suggestions produced by Markit are estimates generated by AI models. They are not official grades, are not guaranteed to be accurate, and should never replace your teacher's or marker's judgement. Do not rely on Markit for decisions with significant academic or financial consequences.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you upload — task sheets, marking guides and drafts. You grant Student Systems a limited licence to store and process that content solely to provide the service to you (for example, sending it to our AI providers to generate feedback). We do not sell your content and do not use it to train third-party models.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use Markit to upload unlawful material, infringe someone else's copyright, attempt to break or overload the service, reverse engineer it, resell access, or bypass usage limits and paywalls.
7. Plans, credits and payment
Markit offers a free plan with limited usage and a paid Pro plan billed monthly, plus one-off Deep Mark top-up packs. Prices are shown in Australian dollars and include any applicable taxes where required. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time from the billing portal and retain access until the end of the current period. Top-up credits are non-refundable once used. Fees already paid are otherwise non-refundable except where required by Australian Consumer Law.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep Markit available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Features, limits and pricing may change; we will give reasonable notice of material changes that affect paid plans.
9. Suspension and termination
You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, misuse the service, or expose us or other users to risk.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Markit is provided "as is" and Student Systems is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including academic outcomes. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
